Matthew
Chapter 13
THE HIDDEN WEALTH

44
23 "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, 24 which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

2 Corinthians
Chapter 4
SPIRITUAL WEALTH IN A POT

1
1 Therefore, since we have this ministry through the mercy shown us, we are not discouraged.
2
Rather, we have renounced shameful, hidden things; not acting deceitfully or falsifying the word of God, but by the open declaration of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.
3
And even though our gospel is veiled, 2 it is veiled for those who are perishing,
4
in whose case the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they may not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5
For we do not preach ourselves 3 but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for the sake of Jesus.
6
4 For God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to bring to light the knowledge of the glory of God on the face of (Jesus) Christ.
7
5 6 But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.
8
7 We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained; perplexed, but not driven to despair;
9
persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed;
10
8 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body.
11
For we who live are constantly being given up to death for the sake of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12
9 So death is at work in us, but life in you.
13
10 Since, then, we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed, therefore I spoke," we too believe and therefore speak,
14
knowing that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and place us with you in his presence.
15
Everything indeed is for you, so that the grace bestowed in abundance on more and more people may cause the thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God.
16
11 12 Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
17
For this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
18
as we look not to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians
Chapter 5
LIVE IN FAITH / FUTURE DESTINY

1
For we know that if our earthly dwelling, 1 a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven.
2
2 For in this tent we groan, longing to be further clothed with our heavenly habitation
3
if indeed, when we have taken it off, 3 we shall not be found naked.
4
For while we are in this tent we groan and are weighed down, because we do not wish to be unclothed 4 but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
5
Now the one who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a first installment. 5
6
6 So we are always courageous, although we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,
7
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
8
Yet we are courageous, and we would rather leave the body and go home to the Lord.
9
Therefore, we aspire to please him, whether we are at home or away.
10
For we must all appear 7 before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive recompense, according to what he did in the body, whether good or evil.

James
Chapter 1
THE POOR AND THE RICH

9
The brother in lowly circumstances 5 should take pride in his high standing,
10
and the rich one in his lowliness, for he will pass away "like the flower of the field."
11
For the sun comes up with its scorching heat and dries up the grass, its flower droops, and the beauty of its appearance vanishes. So will the rich person fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

TEMPTATIONS

12
Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, 6 for when he has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised to those who love him.
13
7 No one experiencing temptation should say, "I am being tempted by God"; for God is not subject to temptation to evil, and he himself tempts no one.
14
Rather, each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
15
Then desire conceives and brings forth sin, and when sin reaches maturity it gives birth to death.
16
8 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers:
17
all good giving and every perfect gift 9 is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.
18
He willed to give us birth by the word of truth that we may be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. 10

James
Chapter 2

FAITH AND WORKS OR DEEDS
14
6 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
15
If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day,
16
and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?
17
So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18
Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
19
You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble.
20
Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless?
21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
22
You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works.
23
Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called "the friend of God."
24
See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
25
And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route?
26
For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

James
Chapter 5
WARNING TO THE RICH

1
1 Come now, you rich, weep and wail over your impending miseries.
2
Your wealth has rotted away, your clothes have become moth-eaten,
3
your gold and silver have corroded, and that corrosion will be a testimony against you; it will devour your flesh like a fire. You have stored up treasure for the last days.
4
Behold, the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
5
You have lived on earth in luxury and pleasure; you have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter.

James
Chapter 4

CAUSES OF DIVISION
1
1 Where do the wars and where do the conflicts among you come from? Is it not from your passions 2 that make war within your members?
2
You covet but do not possess. You kill and envy but you cannot obtain; you fight and wage war. You do not possess because you do not ask.
3
You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
4
Adulterers! 3 Do you not know that to be a lover of the world means enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
5
Or do you suppose that the scripture speaks without meaning when it says, "The spirit that he has made to dwell in us tends toward jealousy"? 4
6
But he bestows a greater grace; therefore, it says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 5
7
So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you of two minds.
9
Begin to lament, to mourn, to weep. Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into dejection.
10
Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.

1 Thessalonians
Chapter 4
MUTUAL CHARITY / LIFE ESSENTIAL TO GOD
11
and to aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your (own) hands, as we instructed you,
12
that you may conduct yourselves properly toward outsiders and not depend on anyone.

THE WISDOM BOOKS AND PROPHETIC BOOKS

The Book of Wisdom
Chapter 1
EXHORTATION TO JUSTICE THE KEY TO LIFE

1
1 Love justice, you who judge the earth; think of the LORD in goodness, and seek him in integrity of heart;
2
Because he is found by those who test him not, and he manifests himself to those who do not disbelieve him.
3
For perverse counsels separate a man from God, and his power, put to the proof, rebukes the foolhardy;
4
Because into a soul that plots evil wisdom enters not, nor dwells she in a body under debt of sin.
5
2 For the holy spirit of discipline flees deceit and withdraws from senseless counsels; and when injustice occurs it is rebuked.
6
For wisdom is a kindly spirit, yet she acquits not the blasphemer of his guilty lips; Because God is the witness of his inmost self and the sure observer of his heart and the listener to his tongue.
7
3 For the spirit of the LORD fills the world, is all-embracing, and knows what man says.
8
Therefore no one who utters wicked things can go unnoticed, nor will chastising condemnation pass him by.
9
For the devices of the wicked man shall be scrutinized, and the sound of his words shall reach the LORD, for the chastisement of his transgressions;

FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17
