John
Chapter 2
CLEANSING OF THE TEMPLE

23
While he was in Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, many began to believe in his name when they saw the signs he was doing.
24
But Jesus would not trust himself to them because he knew them all,
25
and did not need anyone to testify about human nature. He himself understood it well.

John
Chapter 3
THE ONE FROM HEAVEN

31
15 The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven (is above all).
32
He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.
33
Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy.
34
For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift 16 of the Spirit.
35
The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him.
36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.

John
Chapter 4
SECOND SIGN AT CANA

45
When he came into Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, since they had seen all he had done in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves had gone to the feast.
46
18 Then he returned to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. Now there was a royal official whose son was ill in Capernaum.
47
When he heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, who was near death.
48
Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe."
49
The royal official said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies."
50
Jesus said to him, "You may go; your son will live." The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.
51
While he was on his way back, his slaves met him and told him that his boy would live.
52
He asked them when he began to recover. They told him, "The fever left him yesterday, about one in the afternoon."
53
The father realized that just at that time Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live," and he and his whole household came to believe.
54
(Now) this was the second sign Jesus did when he came to Galilee from Judea.

John
Chapter 17
THE PRAYER OF JESUS

1
1 2 When Jesus had said this, he raised his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you,
2
3 just as you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him.
3
4 Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
4
I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.

John
Chapter 14
THE ADVOCATE
15
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate 8 to be with you always,
17
the Spirit of truth, 9 which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you.
18
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. 10
19
In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live.
20
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you.
21
Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him."
22
Judas, not the Iscariot, 11 said to him, "Master, (then) what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?"
23
Jesus answered and said to him, "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
24
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me.
25
"I have told you this while I am with you.
26
The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name--he will teach you everything and remind you of all that (I) told you.
27
Peace 12 I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
28
13 You heard me tell you, 'I am going away and I will come back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.
29
And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe.
30
I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world 14 is coming. He has no power over me,
31
but the world must know that I love the Father and that I do just as the Father has commanded me. Get up, let us go.

Hebrews
Chapter 10
ONE SACRIFICE INSTEAD OF MANY
COME TO THE LORD HOLY TEMPLE

1
1 Since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come, 2 and not the very image of them, it can never make perfect those who come to worship by the same sacrifices that they offer continually each year.
2
Otherwise, would not the sacrifices have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, once cleansed, would no longer have had any consciousness of sins?
3
But in those sacrifices there is only a yearly remembrance of sins,
4
for it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats take away sins.
5
For this reason, when he came into the world, he said: 3 "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
6
holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight in.
7
Then I said, 'As is written of me in the scroll, Behold, I come to do your will, O God.'"
8
First he says, "Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, 4 you neither desired nor delighted in." These are offered according to the law.
9
Then he says, "Behold, I come to do your will." He takes away the first to establish the second.
10
By this "will," we have been consecrated through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11
5 Every priest stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins.
12
But this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and took his seat forever at the right hand of God;
13
6 now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool.
14
For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated.
15
7 The holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying:
16
"This is the covenant I will establish with them after those days, says the Lord: 'I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them upon their minds,'"
17
he also says: 8 "Their sins and their evildoing I will remember no more."
18
Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.
19
9 Therefore, brothers, since through the blood of Jesus we have confidence of entrance into the sanctuary
20
10 by the new and living way he opened for us through the veil, that is, his flesh,
21
11 and since we have "a great priest over the house of God,"
22
let us approach with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience 12 and our bodies washed in pure water.
23
Let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that gives us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy.
24
We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works.
25
We should not stay away from our assembly, 13 as is the custom of some, but encourage one another, and this all the more as you see the day drawing near.
26
14 If we sin deliberately after receiving knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains sacrifice for sins
27
but a fearful prospect of judgment and a flaming fire that is going to consume the adversaries.
28
Anyone who rejects the law of Moses 15 is put to death without pity on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
29
Do you not think that a much worse punishment is due the one who has contempt for the Son of God, considers unclean the covenant-blood by which he was consecrated, and insults the spirit of grace?
30
We know the one who said: "Vengeance is mine; I will repay," and again: "The Lord will judge his people."
31
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32
Remember the days past when, after you had been enlightened, 16 you endured a great contest of suffering.
33
At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and affliction; at other times you associated yourselves with those so treated.
34
You even joined in the sufferings of those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, knowing that you had a better and lasting possession.
35
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence; it will have great recompense.
36
You need endurance to do the will of God and receive what he has promised.
37
"For, after just a brief moment, 17 he who is to come shall come; he shall not delay.
38
But my just one shall live by faith, and if he draws back I take no pleasure in him."
39
We are not among those who draw back and perish, but among those who have faith and will possess life.

The Book of Wisdom
Chapter 9
SOLOMON'S PRAYER
1
God of my fathers, LORD of mercy. you who have made all things by your word
2
And in your wisdom have established man to rule the creatures produced by you,
3
To govern the world in holiness and justice, and to render judgment in integrity of heart:
4
Give me Wisdom, the attendant at your throne, and reject me not from among your children;
5
For I am your servant, the son of your handmaid, a man weak and short-lived and lacking in comprehension of judgment and of laws.

Psalms
Chapter 136
HYMN OF THANKSGIVING FOR GOD'S EVERLASTING LOVE
1
1 Praise the LORD, who is so good; God's love endures forever;
2
Praise the God of gods; God's love endures forever;
3
Praise the Lord of lords; God's love endures forever;
4
Who alone has done great wonders, God's love endures forever;
5
Who skillfully made the heavens, God's love endures forever;
6
Who spread the earth upon the waters, God's love endures forever;
7
Who made the great lights, God's love endures forever;
8
The sun to rule the day, God's love endures forever;
9
The moon and stars to rule the night, God's love endures forever;

Psalms
Chapter 91
SECURITY UNDER GOD'S PROTECTION
1
1 2 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
2
Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."
3
God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,
4
Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.
5
You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,
6
Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.
7
Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.
8
You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.
9
You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.
10
No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.
11
3 For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.
12
With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13
You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.
14
Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.
15
All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.
16
With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.

FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17
