John
Chapter 9
HEALING OF THE BLIND
1
1 As he passed by he saw a man blind from birth.
2
2 His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
3
Jesus answered, "Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.
4
We have to do the works of the one who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.
5
While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
6
When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes,
7
and said to him, "Go wash 3 in the Pool of Siloam" (which means Sent). So he went and washed, and came back able to see.
8
His neighbors and those who had seen him earlier as a beggar said, "Isn't this the one who used to sit and beg?"
9
Some said, "It is," but others said, "No, he just looks like him." He said, "I am."
10
So they said to him, "(So) how were your eyes opened?"
11
He replied, "The man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and told me, 'Go to Siloam and wash.' So I went there and washed and was able to see."
12
And they said to him, "Where is he?" He said, "I don't know."
13
They brought the one who was once blind to the Pharisees.
14
Now Jesus had made clay 4 and opened his eyes on a sabbath.
15
So then the Pharisees also asked him how he was able to see. He said to them, "He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see."
16
So some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, because he does not keep the sabbath." (But) others said, "How can a sinful man do such signs?" And there was a division among them.
17
So they said to the blind man again, "What do you have to say about him, since he opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet."
18
Now the Jews did not believe that he had been blind and gained his sight until they summoned the parents of the one who had gained his sight.
19
They asked them, "Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How does he now see?"
20
His parents answered and said, "We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.
21
We do not know how he sees now, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him, he is of age; he can speak for him self."
22
5 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone acknowledged him as the Messiah, he would be expelled from the synagogue.
23
For this reason his parents said, "He is of age; question him."
24
So a second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, "Give God the praise! 6 We know that this man is a sinner."
25
He replied, "If he is a sinner, I do not know. One thing I do know is that I was blind and now I see."
26
So they said to him, "What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?"
27
He answered them, "I told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples, too?"
28
They ridiculed him and said, "You are that man's disciple; we are disciples of Moses!
29
We know that God spoke to Moses, but we do not know where this one is from."
30
The man answered and said to them, "This is what is so amazing, that you do not know where he is from, yet he opened my eyes.
31
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if one is devout and does his will, he listens to him.
32
7 It is unheard of that anyone ever opened the eyes of a person born blind.
33
If this man were not from God, he would not be able to do anything."
34
They answered and said to him, "You were born totally in sin, and are you trying to teach us?" Then they threw him out.

BLIND IN SPIRIT

35
When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, he found him and said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
36
He answered and said, "Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?"
37
Jesus said to him, "You have seen him and the one speaking with you is he."
38
He said, "I do believe, Lord," and he worshiped him.
39
8 Then Jesus said, "I came into this world for judgment, so that those who do not see might see, and those who do see might become blind."
40
Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and said to him, "Surely we are not also blind, are we?"
41
Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you are saying, 'We see,' so your sin remains.

John
Chapter 3
JESUS AND NICODEMUS
1
1 Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2
2
He came to Jesus at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him."
3
Jesus answered and said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born 3 from above."
4
Nicodemus said to him, "How can a person once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother's womb and be born again, can he?"
5
Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.
6
What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit.
7
Do not be amazed that I told you, 'You must be born from above.'
8
The wind 4 blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
9
Nicodemus answered and said to him, "How can this happen?"
10
Jesus answered and said to him, "You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this?
11
Amen, amen, I say to you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony.
12
If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
13
No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
14
And just as Moses lifted up 5 the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15
6 so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
16
For God so loved the world that he gave 7 his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.
17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn 8 the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
18
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
19
9 And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil.
20
For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed.

Colossians
Chapter 3
BORN AGAIN IN CHRIST
5
2 Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry. 3
6
Because of these the wrath of God 4 is coming (upon the disobedient).
7
By these you too once conducted yourselves, when you lived in that way.
8
But now you must put them all away: 5 anger, fury, malice, slander, and obscene language out of your mouths.
9
Stop lying to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices
10
6 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator.
11
Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, 7 slave, free; but Christ is all and in all.
12
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
13
bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.
14
And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection.
15
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.
16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
17
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Hebrews
Chapter 13
SERVING ESSENTIALS TO GOD

16
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.
17
4 Obey your leaders and defer to them, for they keep watch over you and will have to give an account, that they may fulfill their task with joy and not with sorrow, for that would be of no advantage to you.
18
Pray for us, for we are confident that we have a clear conscience, wishing to act rightly in every respect.
19
I especially ask for your prayers that I may be restored to you very soon.

PRAYER

20
5 May the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep by the blood of the eternal covenant, Jesus our Lord,
21
furnish you with all that is good, that you may do his will. May he carry out in you what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever (and ever). Amen.

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17
