Luke
Chapter 11
DENUNCIATION OF THE PHARISEES AND SCHOLAR OF THE LAW

37
10 After he had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He entered and reclined at table to eat.
38
The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal.
39
The Lord said to him, "Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil.
40
You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside?
41
But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.
42
Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others.
43
Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in synagogues and greetings in marketplaces.
44
Woe to you! You are like unseen graves 11 over which people unknowingly walk."
45
Then one of the scholars of the law 12 said to him in reply, "Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too."
46
And he said, "Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them.
47
Woe to you! You build the memorials of the prophets whom your ancestors killed.
48
Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the building.
49
Therefore, the wisdom of God said, 'I will send to them prophets and apostles; 13 some of them they will kill and persecute'
50
in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world,
51
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah 14 who died between the altar and the temple building. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood!
52
Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter."
53
When he left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward him and to interrogate him about many things,
54
for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.

Luke
Chapter 14
THE PARABLE OF THE GREAT FEAST

15
5 One of his fellow guests on hearing this said to him, "Blessed is the one who will dine in the kingdom of God."
16
He replied to him, "A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.
17
When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his servant to say to those invited, 'Come, everything is now ready.'
18
But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, 'I have purchased a field and must go to examine it; I ask you, consider me excused.'
19
And another said, 'I have purchased five yoke of oxen and am on my way to evaluate them; I ask you, consider me excused.'
20
And another said, 'I have just married a woman, and therefore I cannot come.'
21
The servant went and reported this to his master. Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.'
22
The servant reported, 'Sir, your orders have been carried out and still there is room.'
23
The master then ordered the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled.
24
For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.'"

Luke
Chapter 19
THE LAMENT FOR JERUSALEM

41
9 As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,
42
saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes.
43
10 For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.
44
They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

Luke
Chapter 21
THE SIGNS OF THE END
7
Then they asked him, "Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?"
8
He answered, "See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time has come.' 3 Do not follow them!
9
When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end."
10
Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.
12
"Before all this happens, 4 however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.
13
It will lead to your giving testimony.
14
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
15
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking 5 that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.
16
You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
17
You will be hated by all because of my name,
18
but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
19
By your perseverance you will secure your lives.

2 Corinthians
Chapter 9
GODS INDESCRIBABLE GIFT
1
1 Now about the service to the holy ones, it is superfluous for me to write to you,
2
for I know your eagerness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia 2 has been ready since last year; and your zeal has stirred up most of them.
3
Nonetheless, I sent the brothers 3 so that our boast about you might not prove empty in this case, so that you might be ready, as I said,
4
for fear that if any Macedonians come with me and find you not ready we might be put to shame (to say nothing of you) in this conviction.
5
So I thought it necessary to encourage the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for your promised gift, so that in this way it might be ready as a bountiful gift and not as an exaction.
6
Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7
Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8
4 Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work.
9
As it is written: "He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever."
10
The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
11
5 You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God,
12
for the administration of this public service is not only supplying the needs of the holy ones but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God.
13
Through the evidence of this service, you are glorifying God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your contribution to them and to all others,
14
while in prayer on your behalf they long for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.
15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

2 Corinthians
Chapter 12
PAUL BOAST: HIS WEAKNESS
1
I 1 must boast; not that it is profitable, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2
I know someone in Christ who, fourteen years ago (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows), was caught up to the third heaven.
3
And I know that this person (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows)
4
was caught up into Paradise and heard ineffable things, which no one may utter.
5
About this person 2 I will boast, but about myself I will not boast, except about my weaknesses.
6
Although if I should wish to boast, I would not be foolish, for I would be telling the truth. But I refrain, so that no one may think more of me than what he sees in me or hears from me
7
because of the abundance of the revelations. Therefore, that I might not become too elated, 3 a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too elated.
8
Three times 4 I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me,
9
5 but he said to me, 6 "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.
10
Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong. 7

Philippians
Chapter 4
LIVE IN CONCORD / JOY AND PEACE
1
1 Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, beloved.
2
I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche 2 to come to a mutual understanding in the Lord.
3
Yes, and I ask you also, my true yokemate, 3 to help them, for they have struggled at my side in promoting the gospel, along with Clement and my other co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4
Rejoice 4 in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice!
5
Your kindness 5 should be known to all. The Lord is near.
6
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.
7
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 6
9
Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you. 7

Colossians
Chapter 1
HIS PERSON AND WORK

15
6 He is the image 7 of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
16
For in him 8 were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him.
17
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
18
He is the head of the body, the church. 9 He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he himself might be preeminent.
19
For in him all the fullness 10 was pleased to dwell,
20
and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross 11 (through him), whether those on earth or those in heaven.
21
12 And you who once were alienated and hostile in mind because of evil deeds
22
he has now reconciled in his fleshly body through his death, to present you holy, without blemish, and irreproachable before him,
23
provided that you persevere in the faith, firmly grounded, stable, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, am a minister.

Hebrews
Chapter 8
HEAVENLY PRIESTHOOD OF JESUS
1
1 The main point of what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
2
a minister of the sanctuary 2 and of the true tabernacle that the Lord, not man, set up.

Psalms
Chapter 52
THE DECEITFUL TONGUE

1
1 For the leader. A maskil of David,
2
when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, "David went to the house of Ahimelech."
3
Why do you glory in evil, you scandalous liar? All day long
4
you plot destruction; your tongue is like a sharpened razor, you skillful deceiver.
5
You love evil rather than good, lies rather than honest speech. Selah
6
You love any word that destroys, you deceitful tongue.

Psalms
Chapter 17
PRAYER FROM RESCUE FROM PERSECUTOR

10
3 My ravenous enemies press upon me; they close their hearts, they fill their mouths with proud roaring.
11
Their steps even now encircle me; they watch closely, keeping low to the ground,
12
Like lions eager for prey, like young lions lurking in ambush.
13
Rise, O LORD, confront and cast them down; rescue me so from the wicked.

Psalms
Chapter 16
GOD THE SUPREME GOOD
1
1 A miktam of David. 2 Keep me safe, O God; in you I take refuge
2
I say to the Lord, you are my Lord, you are my only good.

FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17 HEBREWS 4"7
