Luke
Chapter 1
THE CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH

67
Then Zechariah his father, filled with the holy Spirit, prophesied, saying:
68
19 "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and brought redemption to his people.
69
20 He has raised up a horn for our salvation within the house of David his servant,
70
even as he promised through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old:
71
salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,
72
to show mercy to our fathers and to be mindful of his holy covenant
73
and of the oath he swore to Abraham our father, and to grant us that,
74
rescued from the hand of enemies, without fear we might worship him
75
in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
76
And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord 21 to prepare his ways,
77
to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,
78
because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high 22 will visit us
79
to shine on those who sit in darkness and death's shadow, to guide our feet into the path of peace."
80
The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel.

Luke
Chapter 4
THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS

1
1 Filled with the holy Spirit, 2 Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert
2
for forty days, 3 to be tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over he was hungry.
3
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
4
Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'One does not live by bread alone.'"
5
Then he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant.
6
The devil said to him, "I shall give to you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I may give it to whomever I wish.
7
All this will be yours, if you worship me."
8
Jesus said to him in reply, "It is written: 'You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you serve.'"
9
4 Then he led him to Jerusalem, made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
10
for it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,'
11
and: 'With their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"
12
Jesus said to him in reply, "It also says, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'"
13
5 When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time.

Luke
Chapter 12
FAITH IN GOD
22
He said to (his) disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life and what you will eat, or about your body and what you will wear.
23
For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.
24
Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap; they have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. How much more important are you than birds!
25
Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your lifespan?
26
If even the smallest things are beyond your control, why are you anxious about the rest?
27
Notice how the flowers grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of them.
28
If God so clothes the grass in the field that grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
29
As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore.
30
All the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31
Instead, seek his kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides.

Luke
Chapter 19
JESUS CHRIST AND ZAQUEO

1
1 He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.
2
Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man,
3
was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.
4
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.
5
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house."
6
And he came down quickly and received him with joy.
7
When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner."
8
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over."
9
2 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.
10
3 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost."

Acts
Chapter 22

SENDING ST. PAUL TO GENTILES

17
"After I had returned to Jerusalem and while I was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance
18
and saw the Lord saying to me, 'Hurry, leave Jerusalem at once, because they will not accept your testimony about me.'
19
But I replied, 'Lord, they themselves know that from synagogue to synagogue I used to imprison and beat those who believed in you.
20
And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I myself stood by giving my approval and keeping guard over the cloaks of his murderers.'
21
Then he said to me, 'Go, I shall send you far away to the Gentiles.'" 3

Galatians
Chapter 2

THE COUNCIL OF JERUSALEM

10
Only, we were to be mindful of the poor, 9 which is the very thing I was eager to do.

Luke
Chapter 12
DEPENDENCE ON GOD
WEALTH IN HEAVEN

32
Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33
Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.
34
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

Job
Chapter 37
THE LORD SPEECH

12
3 He it is who changes their rounds, according to his plans, in their task upon the surface of the earth,
13
whether for punishment or mercy, as he commands.
14
Hearken to this, O Job! Stand and consider the wondrous works of God!
15
Do you know how God lays his commands upon them, and makes the light shine forth from his clouds?

Psalms
Chapter 89
A LAMENT OVER GOD'S PROMISE TO DAVID

15
Justice and judgment are the foundation of your throne; love and loyalty march before you.
16
Happy the people who know you, LORD, who walk in the radiance of your face.
17
In your name they sing joyfully all the day; at your victory they raise the festal shout

FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17 HEBREWS 4"7
