Matthew
Chapter 2:13-15
The Flight to Egypt

13 When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt,* and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.”

14Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt.

15 He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

John
Chapter 10:1-21

 The Good Shepherd

1 “Amen, amen, I say to you,a whoever does not enter a sheepfold* through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber.

2But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.

3The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice, as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

4 When he has driven out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they recognize his voice.

5But they will not follow a stranger; they will run away from him, because they do not recognize the voice of strangers.”

6Although Jesus used this figure of speech, they did not realize what he was trying to tell them.

7 So Jesus said again, “Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep.

8 All who came [before me] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.

9I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.

10A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.

11I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

12A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them.

13This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep.

14I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,

15just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep.

16I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.

17This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.

18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again.* This command I have received from my Father.”

19Again there was a division among the Jews because of these words.

20Many of them said, “He is possessed and out of his mind; why listen to him?”

21Others said, “These are not the words of one possessed; surely a demon cannot open the eyes of the blind, can he?”

Galatians
Chapter 3:10-14
Justification by Faith

1O stupid Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?

2I want to learn only this from you: did you receive the Spirit from works of the law, or from faith in what you heard?

3Are you so stupid?c After beginning with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh?
4Did you experience so many things* in vain?—if indeed it was in vain.

5Does, then, the one who supplies the Spirit to you and works mighty deeds among you do so from works of the law or from faith in what you heard?

6Thus Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

7 Realize then that it is those who have faith who are children of Abraham.

8Scripture, which saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, foretold the good news to Abraham, saying, “Through you shall all the nations be blessed.”

9Consequently, those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham who had faith.

10 For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not persevere in doing all the things written in the book of the law.”

11And that no one is justified before God by the law is clear, for “the one who is righteous by faith will live.”

12But the law does not depend on faith; rather, “the one who does these things will live by them.”

13Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree,”

14that the blessing of Abraham might be extended to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Ephesians
Chapter 4:7-16
Diversity of Gifts

7But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

8Therefore, it says:
“He ascended on high and took prisoners captive;
he gave gifts to men.”

9What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended into the lower [regions] of the earth?

10The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.

11 And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,

12to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry,* for building up the body of Christ,

13until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ,

14so that we may no longer be infants, tossed by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery, from their cunning in the interests of deceitful scheming.

15Rather, living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ,

16from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, with the proper functioning of each part, brings about the body’s growth and builds itself up in love.

Ephesians
Chapter 6:10-17
Battle against Evil

10 Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power.

11Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil.

12For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.

13Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground.

14So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate,

15and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace.

16In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all [the] flaming arrows of the evil one.
17And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Galatians
Chapter 5:13-26
Freedom for Service

13For you were called for freedom, brothers.j But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve* one another through love.

14For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

15But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.

16 I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.

17For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want.

18But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness,

20idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,

21occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,

23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

24Now those who belong to Christ [Jesus] have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.

26Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another.

1 Thessalonians
Chapter 5:1-22
Church Order

12We ask you, brothers, to respect those who are laboring among you and who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you,

13and to show esteem for them with special love on account of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

14We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all.

15See that no one returns evil for evil; rather, always seek what is good [both] for each other and for all.

16Rejoice always.

17Pray without ceasing.

18In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit.

20Do not despise prophetic utterances.

21Test everything; retain what is good.

22Refrain from every kind of evil.

Luke
Chapter 10:25-28
The Greatest Commandment

25 There was a scholar of the law* who stood up to test him and said, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?

27He said in reply, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

28He replied to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.”

Luke
Chapter 13:1-5
A Call to Repentance

1At that time some people who were present there told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate* had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.

2He said to them in reply, “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?

3By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!

4Or those eighteen people who were killed when the tower at Siloam fell on them*—do you think they were more guilty than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?

5By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!”

Psalms

Chapter 35:1-6
PRAYER FOR HELP AGAINST UNJUST ENEMIES

 1Of David.
Oppose, O LORD, those who oppose me;
war upon those who make war upon me.

2Take up the shield and buckler;
rise up in my defense.

3Brandish lance and battle-ax
against my pursuers.
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation.”

4Let those who seek my life
be put to shame and disgrace.
Let those who plot evil against me
be turned back and confounded.

5Make them like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the LORD driving them on.

6Make their way slippery and dark,
with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17 HEBREWS 4"7
