DEPENDENCE ON GOD / WEALTH IN HEAVEN
Luke 12:22-31 / 32-34

Luke
Chapter 12
22
He said to (his) disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life and what you will eat, or about your body and what you will wear.
23
For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.
24
Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap; they have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. How much more important are you than birds!
25
Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your lifespan?
26
If even the smallest things are beyond your control, why are you anxious about the rest?
27
Notice how the flowers grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of them.
28
If God so clothes the grass in the field that grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
29
As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore.
30
All the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31
Instead, seek his kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides.
32
Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33
Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.
34
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

 The Authority of Jesus Questioned
LUKE 20;1-8

Luke
Chapter 20

1
1 One day as he was teaching the people in the temple area and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and scribes, together with the elders, approached him
2
and said to him, "Tell us, by what authority are you doing these things? Or who is the one who gave you this authority?"
3
He said to them in reply, "I shall ask you a question. Tell me,
4
was John's baptism of heavenly or of human origin?"
5
They discussed this among themselves, and said, "If we say, 'Of heavenly origin,' he will say, 'Why did you not believe him?'
6
But if we say, 'Of human origin,' then all the people will stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet."
7
So they answered that they did not know from where it came.
8
Then Jesus said to them, "Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things."

SERMON ON THE PLAIN / LOVE OF ENEMIES

SERMON ON THE PLAIN
Luke 6:20-26

Luke
Chapter 6
20
10 11 And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.
21
Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh.
22
Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.
23
Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.
24
But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.
25
But woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep.
26
Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.
LOVE OF ENEMIES
Luke 6:27-31

27
12 “But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
29
To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic.
30
Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.
31
Do to others as you would have them do to you.
