Romans
Chapter 10
SALVATION IS FOR ALL

5
3 Moses writes about the righteousness that comes from (the) law, "The one who does these things will live by them."
6
But the righteousness that comes from faith says, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will go up into heaven?' (that is, to bring Christ down)
7
4 or 'Who will go down into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)."
8
But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we preach),
9
for, if you confess 5 with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10
For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
11
For the scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame."
12
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, enriching all who call upon him.
13
For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
14
6 But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?
15
And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring (the) good news!" 7
16
But not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what was heard from us?"
17
Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
18
But I ask, did they not hear? Certainly they did; for "Their voice has gone forth to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."
19
But I ask, did not Israel understand? First Moses says: "I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a senseless nation I will make you angry."
20
Then Isaiah speaks boldly and says: "I was found (by) those who were not seeking me; I revealed myself to those who were not asking for me."
21
But regarding Israel he says, "All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contentious people."

2 Corinthians
Chapter 8
GENEROSITY IN GIVING
1
1 2 3 4 We want you to know, brothers, of the grace of God that has been given to the churches of Macedonia,
2
5 for in a severe test of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their profound poverty overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.
3
6 For according to their means, I can testify, and beyond their means, spontaneously,
4
they begged us insistently for the favor of taking part in the service to the holy ones,
5
and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and to us 7 through the will of God,
6
so that we urged Titus 8 that, as he had already begun, he should also complete for you this gracious act also.
7
9 Now as you excel in every respect, in faith, discourse, knowledge, all earnestness, and in the love we have for you, may you excel in this gracious act also.
8
I say this not by way of command, but to test the genuineness of your love by your concern for others.
9
10 For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sake he became poor although he was rich, so that by his poverty you might become rich.
10
And I am giving counsel in this matter, for it is appropriate for you who began not only to act but to act willingly last year:
11
complete it now, so that your eager 11 willingness may be matched by your completion of it out of what you have.
12
12 For if the eagerness is there, it is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have;
13
not that others should have relief while you are burdened, but that as a matter of equality
14
your surplus at the present time should supply their needs, so that their surplus may also supply your needs, that there may be equality.
15
As it is written: "Whoever had much did not have more, and whoever had little did not have less."

Galatians
Chapter 5
THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH
1
1 2 For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.
2
It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
3
Once again I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to observe the entire law. 3
4
You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
5
For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of righteousness.
6
For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. 4
7
5 6 You were running well; who hindered you from following (the) truth?
8
That enticement does not come from the one who called you. 7
9
A little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough.
10
I am confident of you in the Lord that you will not take a different view, and that the one who is troubling you will bear the condemnation, whoever he may be.
11
As for me, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, 8 why am I still being persecuted? In that case, the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.
12
Would that those who are upsetting you might also castrate themselves! 9
13
10 11 For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve one another through love.
14
For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 12
15
But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.

James
Chapter 5
PATIENCE AND OATHS

7
3 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. 4
8
You too must be patient. Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9
Do not complain, brothers, about one another, that you may not be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates.
10
Take as an example of hardship and patience, brothers, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
11
Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because "the Lord is compassionate and merciful."

1 Peter
Chapter 4
CHRISTIAN RESTRAINT
1
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same attitude (for whoever suffers in the flesh has broken with sin),
2
so as not to spend what remains of one's life in the flesh on human desires, but on the will of God.
3
For the time that has passed is sufficient for doing what the Gentiles like to do: living in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and wanton idolatry.
4
They are surprised that you do not plunge into the same swamp of profligacy, and they vilify you;
5
but they will give an account to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.
6
For this is why the gospel was preached even to the dead 2 that, though condemned in the flesh in human estimation, they might live in the spirit in the estimation of God.

2 Peter
Chapter 2

LESSON FROM THE PAST

10
5 and especially those who follow the flesh with its depraved desire and show contempt for lordship. 6 Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to revile glorious beings,
11
7 whereas angels, despite their superior strength and power, do not bring a reviling judgment against them from the Lord.
12
But these people, like irrational animals born by nature for capture and destruction, revile things that they do not understand, and in their destruction they will also be destroyed,
13
suffering wrong 8 as payment for wrongdoing. Thinking daytime revelry a delight, they are stains and defilements as they revel in their deceits while carousing with you.
14
Their eyes are full of adultery and insatiable for sin. They seduce unstable people, and their hearts are trained in greed. Accursed children!
15
Abandoning the straight road, they have gone astray, following the road of Balaam, the son of Bosor, 9 who loved payment for wrongdoing,

2 Thessalonians
Chapter 2
CHOSEN TO BE SAVED

13
But we ought to give thanks to God for you always, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits 7 for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in truth.
14
To this end he has (also) called you through our gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15
Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours. 8
16
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace,
17
encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word.

Acts
Chapter 4

LIFE IN THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY

32
6 The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common.
33
With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all.
34
There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale,
35
and put them at the feet of the apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need.
36
Thus Joseph, also named by the apostles Barnabas (which is translated "son of encouragement"), a Levite, a Cypriot by birth,
37
sold a piece of property that he owned, then brought the money and put it at the feet of the apostles.

Luke
Chapter 12

WEALTH IN HEAVEN

32
Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33
Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.
34
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

Psalms
Chapter 136
HYMN OF THANKSGIVING FOR GODS
EVERLASTING LOVE

13
Who split in two the Red Sea, God's love endures forever;
14
And led Israel through, God's love endures forever;
15
But swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea, God's love endures forever;
16
Who led the people through the desert, God's love endures forever;
17
Who struck down great kings, God's love endures forever;
18
Slew powerful kings, God's love endures forever;
19
Sihon, king of the Amorites, God's love endures forever;
20
Og, king of Bashan, God's love endures forever;
21
And made their lands a heritage, God's love endures forever;
22
2 A heritage for Israel, God's servant, God's love endures forever.
23
The LORD remembered us in our misery, God's love endures forever;
24
Freed us from our foes, God's love endures forever;
25
And gives food to all flesh, God's love endures forever.
26
Praise the God of heaven, God's love endures forever.

Psalms
Chapter 138
HYMN OF A GREATFUL HEART
1
1 Of David. 2 I thank you, LORD, with all my heart; before the gods to you I sing.
2
I bow low toward your holy temple; I praise your name for your fidelity and love. For you have exalted over all your name and your promise.
3
When I cried out, you answered; you strengthened my spirit.
4
All the kings of earth will praise you, LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth.
5
They will sing of the ways of the LORD: "How great is the glory of the LORD!"
6
The LORD is on high, but cares for the lowly and knows the proud from afar.
7
Though I walk in the midst of dangers, you guard my life when my enemies rage. You stretch out your hand; your right hand saves me.
8
The LORD is with me to the end. LORD, your love endures forever. Never forsake the work of your hands!

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17 HEBREWS 4"7
