“It’s all about character enhancement. We are working double-time on seminars like this one for our police force. We want all of them to be improved by the values taught by Jesus,” explained Fr. Jason D. Ortizo, PNP base chaplain, in an interview.
Day of prayer, reflection
The priest, an active police personnel himself, shared that as many as 78 of their uniformed and non-uniformed members joined the whole “day of prayer, reflection, and sharing” organized in tandem with Br. Jun Carandang of the Live Christ, Share Christ (LCSC) movement.
According to Ortizo, the seminar was the latest in a series of talks launched with a view to effect an inner transformation in the country’s police force as envisioned by PNP Chaplain Service head PSS Deody O. Barret in line with the PNP’s LOT 17/10 “SUGO” (Spiritual Upliftment and Growth of the Organization).
Marian consecration, Bible study
Earlier the PNP Chaplain Service hosted a two-day Marian seminar during which some 60 policemen and women volunteered to consecrate themselves to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
They also learned to pray the Rosary and the importance of the Sacraments.
Moreover, almost as many officers took part in a Bible study last week which reintroduced them to the Word of God and taught them how they can apply it in their personal and professional lives. (Raymond A. Sebastián / CBCP News)
