2 Peter
Chapter 3:11-18
Exhortation to Preparedness
11 Since everything is to be
dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought [you] to be,
conducting yourselves in holiness and devotion,
12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames and the elements melted by fire.
13But according to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
14Therefore, beloved, since you await these things, be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him, at peace.
15And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, also wrote to you,
16speaking of these things as he does in all his letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures.
17Therefore, beloved, since you are forewarned, be on your guard not to be led into the error of the unprincipled and to fall from your own stability.
18But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory now and to the day of eternity. [Amen.]
2 Peter
Chapter 1:3-11
The Power of God’s Promise
3His
divine power has bestowed on us everything that makes for life and
devotion, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory
and power.
4Through these, he has bestowed on us the precious and very great promises, so that through them you may come to share in the divine nature, after escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, virtue with knowledge,
6knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with devotion,
7devotion with mutual affection, mutual affection with love.
8If these are yours and increase in abundance, they will keep you from being idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Anyone who lacks them is blind and shortsighted, forgetful of the cleansing of his past sins.
10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more eager to make your call and election firm, for, in doing so, you will never stumble.
11For, in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you.

Practical Arguments
29Otherwise,
what will people accomplish by having themselves baptized for the dead?
If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they having themselves
baptized for them?
30 Moreover, why are we endangering ourselves all the time?
31Every day I face death; I swear it by the pride in you [brothers] that I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.
32If at Ephesus I fought with beasts, so to speak, what benefit was it to me? If the dead are not raised:
“Let us eat and drink,
for tomorrow we die.”
33Do not be led astray:
“Bad company corrupts good morals.”
34Become sober as you ought and stop sinning. For some have no knowledge of God; I say this to your shame.
35But someone may say, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come back?”
Colossians
Chapter 2:4-8
A General Admonition
2He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.
3You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you.
4Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.
5I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.
6 Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned.
7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.
8By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.
9As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.
10If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
11“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
12This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
13 No one has greater love than this,j to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
14You are my friends if you do what I command you.
15I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
16It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
17This I command you: love one another.
12So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.
13He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.
14His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, ‘We do not want this man to be our king.
15But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading.
16The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’
17He replied, ‘Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’
18Then the second came and reported, ‘Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.’
19And to this servant too he said, ‘You, take charge of five cities.’
20Then the other servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief,
21for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.’
22He said to him, ‘With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant;
23why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’
24And to those standing by he said, ‘Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.’
25But they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’
26‘I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
27Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me.’”

Advice to the Community
5Likewise,
you younger members, be subject to the presbyters. And all of you,
clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for:
“God opposes the proud
but bestows favor on the humble.”
6So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
7Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.
8Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour.
9Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.
10The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.
11To him be dominion forever. Amen.
12I write you this briefly through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, exhorting you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Remain firm in it.
13The chosen one at Babylon sends you greeting, as does Mark, my son.
14Greet one another with a loving kiss. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

12We ask you, brothers, to respect those who are laboring among you and who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you,
13and to show esteem for them with special love on account of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
14We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all.
15See that no one returns evil for evil; rather, always seek what is good [both] for each other and for all.
16Rejoice always.
17Pray without ceasing.
18In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.

A General Admonition
4I say this so that no one may deceive you by specious arguments.
5For even if I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing as I observe your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.
6So, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,
7 rooted in him and built upon him and established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
8See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy according to human tradition, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ.

The Parable of the Ten Gold Coins
11
While they were listening to him speak, he proceeded to tell a parable
because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God
would appear there immediately. Chapter 19:11-27
The Parable of the Ten Gold Coins
12So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.

Sovereign Role of Christ
Chapter 2:9-15
Sovereign Role of Christ
9 For in him dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily,
10and you share in this fullness in him, who is the head of every principality and power.
11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not administered by hand, by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ.
12You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 And even when you were dead [in] transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he brought you to life along with him, having forgiven us all our transgressions;
14 obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims, which was opposed to us, he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross;
15despoiling the principalities and the powers, he made a public spectacle of them, leading them away in triumph by it.
10and you share in this fullness in him, who is the head of every principality and power.
11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not administered by hand, by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ.

A Call to praise and obedience
Chapter 96:1-10
A Call to praise and obedience
sing to the LORD, all the earth.
2Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
3Tell his glory among the nations;
among all peoples, his marvelous deeds.
7Give to the LORD, you families of nations,
give to the LORD glory and might;
8give to the LORD the glory due his name!
Bring gifts and enter his courts;
9bow down to the LORD, splendid in holiness.
Tremble before him, all the earth;
10 declare among the nations: The LORD is king.
The world will surely stand fast, never to be shaken.
He rules the peoples with fairness.
give to the LORD glory and might;
8give to the LORD the glory due his name!
Bring gifts and enter his courts;
9bow down to the LORD, splendid in holiness.
Tremble before him, all the earth;
10 declare among the nations: The LORD is king.
The world will surely stand fast, never to be shaken.
He rules the peoples with fairness.

EFESO 4:17-18 5:15-17 HEBREWS 4"7
17Sa
