ATTITUDE OF THE SERVANT Mark Chapter 10
SAYINGS AGAINST GREED Luke Chapter 12VIGILANT AND FAITHFUL SERVANT Luke Chapter 12
Chapter 12
- 44
- Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me,
- 45
- and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me.
- 46
- I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.
- 47
- And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world.
- 48
- Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day,
- 49
- because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak.
- 50
- And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father told me."
Chapter 11
JESUS CHRIST IS THE LIFE AND ETERNAL LIFE
- 25
- Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live,
- 26
- and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
- 27
- 6 She said to him, "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world."
Chapter 10
- 34
- 15 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, "You are gods"'?
- 35
- If it calls them gods to whom the word of God came, and scripture cannot be set aside,
- 36
- can you say that the one whom the Father has consecrated 16 and sent into the world blasphemes because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
Chapter 17
- 6
- The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.
- 7
- 2 "Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'?
- 8
- Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'?
- 9
- Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
- 10
- So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'"
Chapter 10
- 17
- As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, and asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
- 18
- Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good? 3 No one is good but God alone.
- 19
- You know the commandments: 'You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; honor your father and your mother.'"
- 20
- He replied and said to him, "Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth."
- 21
- Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, "You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to (the) poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
- 22
- At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
- 23
- 4 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!"
- 24
- The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
- 25
- It is easier for a camel to pass through (the) eye of (a) needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."
- 26
- They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves, "Then who can be saved?"
- 27
- Jesus looked at them and said, "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God."
- 28
- Peter began to say to him, "We have given up everything and followed you."
- 29
- Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel
- 30
- who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
- 31
- But many that are first will be last, and (the) last will be first."
Chapter 12
SAYINGS AGAINST GREED
- 13
- 6 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me."
- 14
- He replied to him, "Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?"
- 15
- Then he said to the crowd, "Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one's life does not consist of possessions."
- 16
- Then he told them a parable. "There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
- 17
- He asked himself, 'What shall I do, for I do not have space to store my harvest?'
- 18
- And he said, 'This is what I shall do: I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones. There I shall store all my grain and other goods
- 19
- and I shall say to myself, "Now as for you, you have so many good things stored up for many years, rest, eat, drink, be merry!"
- 20
- But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?'
- 21
- Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich in what matters to God." 7
Chapter 12
VIGILANT AND FAITHFUL SERVANT
- 41
- Then Peter said, "Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?"
- 42
- And the Lord replied, "Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute (the) food allowance at the proper time?
- 43
- Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.
- 44
- Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
- 45
- But if that servant says to himself, 'My master is delayed in coming,' 9 and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat and drink and get drunk,
- 46
- then that servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the unfaithful.
- 47
- That servant who knew his master's will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely;
- 48
- and the servant who was ignorant of his master's will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.
Chapter 1
THE CREATIONS
- 28
- God blessed them, saying: "Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth."
- 29
- God also said: "See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food;
- 30
- and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food." And so it happened.
- 31
- God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed--the sixth day.
Chapter 49
- 13
- For all their riches mortals do not abide; they perish like the beasts.
- 14
- This is the destiny of those who trust in folly, the end of those so pleased with their wealth. Selah
- 15
- Like sheep they are herded into Sheol, where death will be their shepherd. Straight to the grave they descend, where their form will waste away, Sheol will be their palace.
- 16
- 5 But God will redeem my life, will take me from the power of Sheol. Selah
Chapter 50
THE ACCEPTABLE SACRIFICE
- 7
- "Listen, my people, I will speak; Israel, I will testify against you; God, your God, am I.
- 8
- Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you, nor for your holocausts, set before me daily.
- 9
- I need no bullock from your house, no goats from your fold.
- 10
- For every animal of the forest is mine, beasts by the thousands on my mountains.
- 11
- I know every bird of the heavens; the creatures of the field belong to me.
- 12
- Were I hungry, I would not tell you, for mine is the world and all that fills it.
- 13
- Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?
- 14
- Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.
- 15
- Then call on me in time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me."
Chapter 70
- 1
- 1 For the leader; of David. For remembrance.
- 2
- Graciously rescue me, God! Come quickly to help me, LORD!
- 3
- Confound and put to shame those who seek my life. Turn back in disgrace those who desire my ruin.
- 4
- Let those who say "Aha!" turn back in their shame.
- 5
- But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. May those who long for your help always say, "God be glorified!"
- 6
- Here I am, afflicted and poor. God, come quickly! You are my help and deliverer. LORD, do not delay!
FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE

EFESO 4:17-18 5:15-17
