In response to Pope Francis’ message for the 52nd World
Communications Day, the Daughters of Saint Paul and the Society of Saint
Paul are inviting the public to a whole day symposium on the theme
“Fake News and the Pope: Informing=Forming.”
The symposium will be held on May 5, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Daughters of St. Paul, 2650 FB. Harrison St., Pasay City.
“We are all aware how crucial the pope’s message is considering the prevalence of conflicting messages and fake news that are being disseminated in the media at present. Today, anybody can become a victim of fake news!” said Sr. Pinky Barrientos, FSP, Daughters of St. Paul Provincial Councilor on Apostolate, in the event invitation.
The congregation invited the following media practitioners and communicators to give the talks:

- Ilsa Reyes, co-host of Salitang Buhay, DZMM Teleradio, who will discuss about “Fake News and Social Media Journalism”; and
- John Nery, editor and columnist of Philippine Daily Inquirer, who will speak about “The Pope and the Protectors of News”
