A five-storey condominium for about 65 family-beneficiaries was blessed on July 14 in Malibay, Pasay City.
The celebration began in the afternoon with the Holy Mass presided over by the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, D.D. The condominium and its units were then blessed by the Archbishop of Manila, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.
“We are called to build a house for Jesus. Jesus is happy when he finds to dwell in us. Each one of us must welcome Jesus: Jesus, I want you to live in me,” said Caccia in his homily.
No one so poor
The prelate added that God continues to take care of His people; that there is no reason to be afraid. He also called on those present to be “available and ready” to answer the call of Jesus to be a witness.
He also challenged those present, “What can I give to others even though I am poor? Are you so poor that you cannot visit the sick, to spare some minutes to care? We are all called to answer Jesus’ call.” Caccia also assured them of the nearness of the Holy Father, Pope Francis.
Supervised by the St. Hannibal Empowerment Center (SHEC), through the organization of the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ), St. Matthew Province, the new edifice would be Phase 17 of the St. Hannibal Christian Community (SHaCC).
As the Mass concluded, the parish priest of San Juan Nepomuceno Parish in Malibay, Fr. Edgardo Coroza, and the Rogationists’ Provincial Superior, Fr. Herman Abcede, expressed thanks to those present.
‘Jesus in our hearts’
During the blessing, Tagle made reference to Jesus’ coming into Zaccheus’ home, saying in Filipino: “Jesus didn’t just enter Zaccheus’ house, he also entered his heart. When Jesus entered his life, Zaccheus became just.”
The cardinal stressed that the emphasis is on the heart not on the building.
“Open your heart… Open yourself to Jesus. To the youth, become priests and nuns. Let’s be good people, be good Christians.”
