"PROTECT THE GOOD FROM EVIL
ON GOD'S TEACHINGS"

John
Chapter 12

THE ENTRY INTRO JERUSALEM

12
5 On the next day, when the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13
they took palm branches 6 and went out to meet him, and cried out: "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, (even) the king of Israel."
14
Jesus found an ass and sat upon it, as is written:
15
"Fear no more, O daughter Zion; 7 see, your king comes, seated upon an ass's colt."
16
His disciples did not understand this at first, but when Jesus had been glorified they remembered that these things were written about him and that they had done this 8 for him.
17
9 So the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from death continued to testify.
18
This was (also) why the crowd went to meet him, because they heard that he had done this sign.
19
So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the whole world 10 has gone after him."

Luke
Chapter 19

THE LAMENT FOR JERUSALEM

41
9 As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,
42
saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes.
43
10 For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.
44
They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

Romans
Chapter 7
SIN AND DEATH

14
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold into slavery to sin.
15
What I do, I do not understand. For I do not do what I want, but I do what I hate.
16
Now if I do what I do not want, I concur that the law is good.
17
So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
18
For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh. The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not.
19
For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want.
20
Now if (I) do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
21
So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand.
22
For I take delight in the law of God, in my inner self,
23
but I see in my members another principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 5
24
Miserable one that I am! Who will deliver me from this mortal body?
25
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, I myself, with my mind, serve the law of God but, with my flesh, the law of sin.

Romans
Chapter 8

GOD'S INDOMITABLE LOVE IN CHRIST

31
8 What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32
He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him?
33
Who will bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who acquits us.
34
Who will condemn? It is Christ (Jesus) who died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.
35
What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?
36
As it is written: "For your sake we are being slain all the day; we are looked upon as sheep to be slaughtered."
37
No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us.
38
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, 9 nor future things, nor powers,
39
nor height, nor depth, 10 nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Corinthians
Chapter 15

THE RESURRECTION EVENT

51
25 Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,
52
in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53
For that which is corruptible must clothe itself with incorruptibility, and that which is mortal must clothe itself with immortality.
54
26 And when this which is corruptible clothes itself with incorruptibility and this which is mortal clothes itself with immortality, then the word that is written shall come about: "Death is swallowed up in victory.
55
Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
56
The sting of death is sin, 27 and the power of sin is the law.
57
But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be firm, steadfast, always fully devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Galatians
Chapter 6
LIFE IN THE COMMUNITY OF CHRIST
1
1 Brothers, even if a person is caught in some transgression, you who are spiritual should correct that one in a gentle spirit, looking to yourself, so that you also may not be tempted.
2
Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. 2
3
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he is deluding himself.
4
3 Each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason to boast with regard to himself alone, and not with regard to someone else;
5
for each will bear his own load.
6
One who is being instructed in the word should share all good things with his instructor. 4
7
Make no mistake: God is not mocked, for a person will reap only what he sows,
8
because the one who sows for his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows for the spirit will reap eternal life from the spirit.
9
Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up.
10
So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, but especially to those who belong to the family of the faith. 5

1 Peter
Chapter 3
CHRISTIAN CONDUCT
8
3 Finally, all of you, be of one mind, sympathetic, loving toward one another, compassionate, humble.
9
Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult; but, on the contrary, a blessing, because to this you were called, that you might inherit a blessing.
10
For: "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep the tongue from evil and the lips from speaking deceit,
11
must turn from evil and do good, seek peace and follow after it.
12
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears turned to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against evildoers."
13
4 Now who is going to harm you if you are enthusiastic for what is good?
14
But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, blessed are you. Do not be afraid or terrified with fear of them,
15
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope,
16
but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may themselves be put to shame.
17
For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that be the will of God, than for doing evil.
18
For Christ also suffered 5 for sins once, the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous, that he might lead you to God. Put to death in the flesh, he was brought to life in the spirit.
19
In it he also went to preach to the spirits in prison, 6
20
who had once been disobedient while God patiently waited in the days of Noah during the building of the ark, in which a few persons, eight in all, were saved through water.
21
This prefigured baptism, which saves you now. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God 7 for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22
who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to him.

Sirach
Chapter 17
APPEAL FOR A RETURN TO GOD

19
3 But to the penitent he provides a way back, he encourages those who are losing hope!
20
Return to the LORD and give up sin, pray to him and make your offenses few.
21
Turn again to the Most High and away from sin, hate intensely what he loathes;
22
Who in the nether world can glorify the Most High in place of the living who offer their praise?
23
No more can the dead give praise than those who have never lived; they glorify the LORD who are alive and well.
24
How great the mercy of the LORD, his forgiveness of those who return to him!
25
The like cannot be found in men, for not immortal is any son of man.
26
4 Is anything brighter than the sun? Yet it can be eclipsed. How obscure then the thoughts of flesh and blood!
27
God watches over the hosts of highest heaven, while all men are dust and ashes.

Sirach
Chapter 15
MANS FREE WILL

14
When God, in the beginning, created man, he made him subject to his own free choice.
15
If you choose you can keep the commandments; it is loyalty to do his will.
16
There are set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand.
17
Before man are life and death, whichever he chooses shall be given him.

Zechariah

Chapter 9

RESTORATION UNDER THE MESSIAH

9
5 Rejoice heartily, O daughter Zion, shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem! See, your king shall come to you; a just savior is he, Meek, and riding on an ass, on a colt, the foal of an ass.
10
6 He shall banish the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; The warrior's bow shall be banished, and he shall proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the iver to the ends of the earth.

FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17
