FAITH AND WORKS Galatians Chapter 2
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH Galatians Chapter 3
FREEDOM FOR SERVICE Galatians Chapter 5
THE TRADITION OF THE ELDERS
Mark Chapter 7

BIBLE LIGHTS PROMOTIONS
"at habang akoy nasa daigdig, namumuhay ako sa pananalig sa anak ng diyos na umibig sa akin at nagalay ng kanyang buhay para sa akin" Galacia 2:20 "nanalig siya sa diyos, kaya't siya'y ibinilang sa matuwid" Galacia 3:6

Galatians
Chapter 2
FAITH AND WORKS
15
15 We, who are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles,
16
(yet) who know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. 16
17
But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves are found to be sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? 17 Of course not!
18
But if I am building up again those things that I tore down, then I show myself to be a transgressor. 18
19
For through the law I died to the law, 19 that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ;
20
yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up for me.
21
I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.

Galatians
Chapter 3
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
1
1 2 O stupid Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?
2
I want to learn only this from you: did you receive the Spirit from works of the law, or from faith in what you heard? 3
3
Are you so stupid? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh? 4
4
Did you experience so many things 5 in vain?--if indeed it was in vain.
5
Does, then, the one who supplies the Spirit to you and works mighty deeds among you do so from works of the law or from faith in what you heard?
6
Thus Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." 6
7
7 Realize then that it is those who have faith who are children of Abraham.
8
Scripture, which saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, foretold the good news to Abraham, saying, "Through you shall all the nations be blessed."
9
Consequently, those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham who had faith.
10
8 For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be everyone who does not persevere in doing all the things written in the book of the law."
11
And that no one is justified before God by the law is clear, for "the one who is righteous by faith will live."
12
But the law does not depend on faith; rather, "the one who does these things will live by them."
13
Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree,"
14
that the blessing of Abraham might be extended to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15
9 Brothers, in human terms I say that no one can annul or amend even a human will once ratified.
16
Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his descendant. 10 It does not say, "And to descendants," as referring to many, but as referring to one, "And to your descendant," who is Christ.
17
This is what I mean: the law, which came four hundred and thirty years afterward, 11 does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to cancel the promise.
18
For if the inheritance comes from the law, it is no longer from a promise; but God bestowed it on Abraham through a promise. 12
19
13 14 Why, then, the law? It was added for transgressions, until the descendant came to whom the promise had been made; it was promulgated by angels at the hand of a mediator.
20
Now there is no mediator when only one party is involved, and God is one.
21
Is the law then opposed to the promises (of God)? Of course not! For if a law had been given that could bring life, then righteousness would in reality come from the law.
22
But scripture confined all things under the power of sin, that through faith in Jesus Christ the promise might be given to those who believe.
23
15 Before faith came, we were held in custody under law, confined for the faith that was to be revealed.
24
Consequently, the law was our disciplinarian 16 for Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a disciplinarian.
26
For through faith you are all children of God 17 in Christ Jesus.
27
18 19 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendant, heirs according to the promise.

Galatians
Chapter 5
FREEDOM FOR SERVICE
13
10 11 For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve one another through love.
14
For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 12
15
But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.

16
I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh. 13
17
For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want.
18
But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19
14 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness,
20
idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,
21
occasions of envy, 15 drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,
23
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24
Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.
25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.
26
Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another.

Mark
Chapter 7
THE TRADITION OF THE ELDERS
1
1 Now when the Pharisees with some scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around him,
2
they observed that some of his disciples ate their meals with unclean, that is, unwashed, hands.
3
(For the Pharisees and, in fact, all Jews, do not eat without carefully washing their hands, 2 keeping the tradition of the elders.
4
And on coming from the marketplace they do not eat without purifying themselves. And there are many other things that they have traditionally observed, the purification of cups and jugs and kettles (and beds).)
5
So the Pharisees and scribes questioned him, "Why do your disciples not follow the tradition of the elders 3 but instead eat a meal with unclean hands?"
6
He responded, "Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written: 'This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me;
7
In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.'
8
You disregard God's commandment but cling to human tradition."
9
He went on to say, "How well you have set aside the commandment of God in order to uphold your tradition!
10
For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and 'Whoever curses father or mother shall die.'
11
Yet you say, 'If a person says to father or mother, "Any support you might have had from me is qorban"' 4 (meaning, dedicated to God),
12
you allow him to do nothing more for his father or mother.
13
You nullify the word of God in favor of your tradition that you have handed on. And you do many such things."

MAKE THE PEOPLES SINNERS

14
He summoned the crowd again and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand.
15
Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile."
16
) 5
17
6 When he got home away from the crowd his disciples questioned him about the parable.
18
He said to them, "Are even you likewise without understanding? Do you not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside cannot defile,
19
7 since it enters not the heart but the stomach and passes out into the latrine?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
20
"But what comes out of a person, that is what defiles.
21
From within people, from their hearts, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder,
22
adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly.
23
All these evils come from within and they defile."

Psalms
Chapter 86
PRAYER IN TIME OF DISTRESS
1
A prayer of David. 1 Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and oppressed.
2
Preserve my life, for I am loyal; save your servant who trusts in you.
3
You are my God; pity me, Lord; to you I call all the day.
4
Gladden the soul of your servant; to you, Lord, I lift up my soul.
5
Lord, you are kind and forgiving, most loving to all who call on you.
6
LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my cry for help.
7
In this time of trouble I call, for you will answer me.
8
None among the gods can equal you, O Lord; nor can their deeds compare to yours.
9
All the nations you have made shall come to bow before you, Lord, and give honor to your name.
10
For you are great and do wondrous deeds; and you alone are God.
11
Teach me, LORD, your way that I may walk in your truth, single-hearted and revering your name.
12
I will praise you with all my heart, glorify your name forever, Lord my God.
13
Your love for me is great; you have rescued me from the depths of Sheol.
14
O God, the arrogant have risen against me; a ruthless band has sought my life; to you they pay no heed.
15
But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, most loving and true.
16
Turn to me, have pity on me; give your strength to your servant; save this child of your handmaid.
17
Give me a sign of your favor: make my enemies see, to their confusion, that you, LORD, help and comfort me.

Psalms
Chapter 22

PRAYER OF AN INNOCENT PERSON

13
4 Many bulls surround me; fierce bulls of Bashan encircle me.
14
They open their mouths against me, lions that rend and roar.
15
Like water my life drains away; all my bones grow soft. My heart has become like wax, it melts away within me.
16
5 As dry as a potsherd is my throat; my tongue sticks to my palate; you lay me in the dust of death.
17
Many dogs surround me; a pack of evildoers closes in on me. So wasted are my hands and feet
18
that I can count all my bones. They stare at me and gloat;
19
they divide my garments among them; for my clothing they cast lots.
20
But you, LORD, do not stay far off; my strength, come quickly to help me.
21
Deliver me from the sword, my forlorn life from the teeth of the dog.
22
Save me from the lion's mouth, my poor life from the horns of wild bulls.
23
6 Then I will proclaim your name to the assembly; in the community I will praise you:
24
"You who fear the LORD, give praise! All descendants of Jacob, give honor; show reverence, all descendants of Israel!

FOR OUR SPIRITUAL BELIEF IN LIFE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EFESO 4:17-18  5:15-17
